WHAT WE DO

We employ local physicians, dentists, and nurses.

We charge about $1 per visit, and give free medication.

If someone has a serious medical problem beyond what we can treat in the clinic, we refer to specialists, and provide financial assistance as necessary.

Benjamin, a little patient wanting to pay for the doctor visit.

Visiting Jean Blanc, who had a stroke last year, and can’t walk to the clinic.

You don’t have to be a radiologist to see the problem.

We placed a splint on her arm, and sent her to an orthopedic surgeon.

Marie Sonie’s leg was injured during the earthquake in 2010. She received a prosthesis, which she used for several years. But the liner and sleeve wore out, and so she was not able to walk anymore.

March 2021

The pathology report showed follicular carcinoma, which is cured by surgery. So she did not need chemotherapy or radiation, which would likely be impossible to do in Haiti.

Cured with medication

A 54 year old woman had a completely prolapsed uterus, which she had for 7 years! We paid for her surgery, she was very grateful.

A common problem we see here at Emmaus Clinic - keloids due to ear piercings.

Keloid removed.

Andre had large bilateral inguinal hernias. We helped him get surgery at the nearest hospital. Several other men and boys have hernias. We want to raise money for their operations also.

A woman who lives near the clinic has neurofibromatosis. She has hundreds of dermal neurofibromas, which we have been removing.

She wants them all removed, which will take time, but we’ll keep working on it. She always brings us avocados and vegetables from her garden, whatever is in season!

implanon removal.jpeg

Nella had a contraceptive implant in her arm for about 8 years. She had gone to the nearest hospital several times to have it removed, but no one would help her - either due to lack of qualified staff, or because she could not afford the procedure. We removed it, and she discovered another one, that had been there for even longer, which we also removed.
