Emmaus Clinic

CURRENTLY IN DIEGUE

Where we are now

In February of 2023, gangs invaded the peaceful agricultural region of Bellevue Mountain. The entire population fled their homes and farms. Many moved to Diegue, near Port au Prince, where they have been living as refugees. Emmaus Clinic has rented a building in Diegue. We continue to work with Bellevue Mountain Christian Center to provide healthcare, housing, food, education, and employment.

A day at Emmaus
Clinic

Our doctor comes to the clinic once a week and will see about 30 patients. Nurses are here every day for refills of medication or to treat minor complaints.

We see patients with high blood pressure, diabetes, aches and pains from physical labor, and other common ailments.

If someone has a serious problem beyond what we can treat in the clinic, we refer to specialists, and provide financial assistance as necessary.

What we Provide

We employ local physicians, dentists, and nurses. We charge less than $1 per visit, and give free medication.

Medical

Dr. Jean Louis is our Medical Director. We treat common conditions such as: high blood pressure, diabetes, and infections. We also treat conditions that are more common in Haiti, such as: parasites, cholera, dengue, malnutrition, and wounds from gang attacks.

Dental

Thanks to a dentist who donated his entire office, we now have a dental clinic in Diegue. Most of our patients have never been to a dentist, so this is a huge blessing for them!

Spiritual

Emmaus Clinic is staffed by Christians from local churches. A pastor, Felix counsels and prays with patients. We give bibles and other literature in Haitian Creole.
