February 2024
2023 was a difficult year, but by God's grace, we are moving forward. Last February, gangs took over Bellevue Mountain (where our clinic was located). Several thousand families fled their homes. Many moved in with relatives and friends near Port-au-Prince, and many families were homeless. Thanks to your donations, we were able to rent apartments for eight families.
The Emmaus School has reopened in a new location, with over 250 students. The building is very crowded, but we hope to enlarge it as soon as possible.
We have rented a nice building for Emmaus Clinic, an upgrade from our previous location. It is across the street from the police station, so probably as safe as can be in this region. We have an arrangement with the police who send two officers to our clinic.
We bought a solar panel system to provide electricity.
Our doctor comes one day per week, and the nurses are there every day. I speak with nurse Louna frequently to discuss individual patients.
A pastor is now regularly in the clinic, so that is a huge blessing!
An ultrasound transducer was donated by USC Ultrasound, which will be very useful. I will send it with the next medication shipment in March.
We are partnering with a local lab, who come to the clinic to draw blood from our patients.
Here is a tour of the new building:
Thank you for helping us to continue to help the people of Haiti!
