Dear family and friends,

Thank you for your support for the Emmaus Clinic! Haiti continues to face a crisis of gang violence. Some encouraging news is there is now a provisional Haitian government and a Prime Minister. The Kenyan and UN peacekeeping forces are supporting the Haitian police to begin to retake parts of the capital Port-au-Prince. Our staff continues to work amid these dangers. Here are some of the people we are helping, by God’s grace:

Stessa had a large rapidly growing mass on her face. We were able to locate a specialist in Petionville near our clinic, who performed the surgery. Thank God, it turned out to not be cancer!

I assisted the birth of Roselaure’s fourth child two years ago. She delivered her fifth baby at home recently. Three weeks later, she came to the clinic with a severe case of mastitis which required urgent surgery. She was not able to breastfeed. She was only giving her baby crushed crackers mixed in water. Our nurse Louna now purchases infant formula (very expensive in Haiti) every week and will continue until her baby can begin a regular diet.

We are financing these women to start small businesses so they can provide for their families. The idea for this came from nurse Louna (on the left). Many people come to her for help, not just medical, but other needs as well.

I went to the Dominican Republic for one week in July, for a medical mission to a Haitian church. Although it is better than in Haiti, they cannot afford medical care, and there is a constant threat of deportation.

Prayer need: Agape Flights is the company that sends the medication and other supplies that we use at the clinic. Because of the violence, they have not been able to fly to Port au Prince for many months. We have run out of almost all medication. Please pray that they will be able to resume flights to Port au Prince.

Thank you!
